HAPPY NEW YEAR

On New Years eve we hear about making resolutions.

I prefer to stay with my awakening conversation with God.

"Good morning, God thank you for another day on this earth. Help me today to listen to whatever you are calling me to Be or Do. Be my surety. Bless this day those I love, those I have promised to pray for and those who are in need. May I be present to those you send my way today. Give me the wisdom to discern what you are calling me to and what the situation is calling me to Be. At the end of the day I give all to you, bless it, fix it and be with me as I rest in your care.

Happy New year to you and those you love

HOLY FAMILY DAY

today we remember the Holy Family, the parents of the child Jesus.

When we read of them in scripture we find little said, some joy at birth but in a stable because there was not room, a running to Egypt because the King wanted to kill their son, Jesus staying behind when they were on their way home from annual visit to the temple, a sassy teenager saying do you not know I must be doing my Fathers business, and there is more. It says Mary held these in her heart.

Sure sounds like our normal family, which we also may consider blessed as you try to parent your children in the right ways.

Most of life is just being faithful in the ordinary ups and downs of life.

We take some time today to pray for parents, others who are called to help the children of today to be loved and cared for. We pray for the orphans of Russia that are now denied a loving home and used as pawns in response to civil rights violations. We pray for the children our Sisters serve who have no meals everyday, clean water or hope for a meaningful future. We pray for the children of migrant workers who may be deported and our Sisters as they work to help them.

May each of us reach out and hug a child.

Peace

I hate to turn on the news as it is filled with sadness, loss and violence.

Behold I saw a  story of those who are reaching out and giving gifts to those in Sandy's wake. One persons suggested we do a good deed for someone to represent all the children who died. Goodness can prevail over violence.

I pray I too may do good deeds today endlessly.
who needs to count? Care to join me and put more peace into this world.

Mary's yes our gift

Today we recall Mary's yes to God's messenger that she will bear a son and he will be the long awaited for  Savior of the world. What a message to say yes to. I am sure it was not a one time yes. Our commitments we find are never a one time yes either.

Today in the story of Luke we read of Mary not only saying yes, not knowing how it will happen but her going out of her way to visit her older cousin Elizabeth who also is with child in her old age.

In our "Yes "we also can extend ourselves to those in need. This time of the year when we are all so busy rushing here and there may we not forget those who just need us to reach out to them, to be present to them. I am sure you know someone who needs your presence. May you have the wisdom to reach out to them.

Blessings to you and those you love as we celebrate Christ,s coming to be one with us.
